A Mother’s Conversation: The Unexpected Joys and Challenges of Motherhood
“Motherhood is a never-ending learning process” Winda shares. “Before I had children, I believed my role was primarily to provide them with a safe environment and good education. However, it is actually more than that.”.
Raising twins that are the opposite personality and the same age are quite challenging. “The pace of their growth is the same, but their emotional and developmental won't be the same.” Winda explains.
The most challenging for me is balancing, which is not easy. Nowadays, it's very easy to see how other moms educate or treat their children, and that can lead to children comparing their own moms to others. So I've been thinking about how to balance instilling the norms I believe in with avoiding undue influence from others. “Finding the right balance for each child is an ongoing learning experience indeed.”
The values that Winda wants to instill to her children is "Firstly, I want them to live a life of purpose," she states. "It's about making a positive impact on the community. Secondly, I emphasize the importance of staying true to oneself. Finally, I encourage them to embrace new experiences and not fear failure."
Balancing motherhood with other aspects of her life requires conscious effort. "I keep my children involved in my life by sharing details of my day and maintaining a strong emotional connection," she explains. "Even when I'm busy, presence, whether physical or emotional, is crucial."
Winda draws inspiration from her own mother, who always made time for her children despite a demanding career. "She would travel across the world to attend my piano rehearsals," Winda recalls. "Seeing her dedication has deeply impacted my own parenting approach."
Winda offers a final piece of advice to other mothers: "Don't be afraid to make mistakes. It's okay to seek help and support. Remember, no one knows everything."
